PORTAGE, MI (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo has hosted a World Series every year for decades but could lose it, if a bid to move it to Portage doesn’t work out.
The Portage City Council has agreed to join the South Portage Little League’s bid with Little League International to move the Big League Softball World Series to their sports complex.
The Milwood Little League has hosted the Tournament for decades but decided it could no longer do so. Local Tourney Director Fred Welser says the Portage softball Complex is their next best chance of keeping it here.
they were just asking for a letter from the City Manager and Council saying they support their bid to bring the tourney to Portage. It passed unanimously.
They still have to find local sponsors and the money to make improvements to the complex and add seating
