BRISTOL (WKZO) -- A Michigan man who was briefly the spokesman for the victims of that Fungal Meningitis outbreak is now fighting the disease himself. 65-year-old George Cary lost his wife Lilian to the infection last month, and was concerned for himself because he had gotten the same shots.
Tests initially showed no signs of the infection, but then he began having severe headaches. He told the Associated Press that he is feeling better after three days of treatments at an undisclosed Michigan hospital. .
The number of Michiganders who have received treatment for a variety of spinal and joint infections because of tainted shots is up to 74.
