UNION TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) - The Branch County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a collision last night that sent a motorcyclist to the hospital after the biker ran into the back of a farm tractor which were both eastbound on Dunks Road. It happened shortly after 7 p.m. west on Arbogast road in Union Township.
Deputies say 65-year old Frederick Turgeon of Union City was on the motorcycle and the tractor was operated by 70-year old Clayton Boston, also of Union City. Both of them told deputies that at the same time there was an on-coming vehicle that had its bright lights on.
Turgeon said after it went by he saw the reflective triangle on the back of the tractor but caught it too late to avoid contact and struck the garden disc attached to the rear of the tractor and lost control and was thrown from the bike. Turgeon, who was wearing his helmet, was taken to the Community Health Center of Branch County for treatment and remains in fair condition.
