LANSING, MI (WTVB) - You could be paying more to heat your home this winter season and at the same time paying less. How can this be? The Michigan Public Service Commission says the rates for energy will actually be down as the glut in the natural gas market and extremely low prices last summer permitted them to secure lots of cheap gas. But the state agency is assuming that you will be burning more this year than last, because last winter was one of the mildest on record. It breaks down to 9% more usage but 7% less expense.
