The final showdown of the season between the Tigers and the Central Division leading White Sox will have to wait until Monday afternoon. Last night’s game in Chicago was rained out, postponing Detroit’s chance to move into a first place tie with the White Sox, who took the opening game of the 4-game series Monday night before the Tigers bounced back to capture the next two. Justin Verlander was supposed to start last night for Detroit so he’ll be on the mound this evening when the Tigers begin a 3-game series at Cleveland. It means that Doug Fister will be the scheduled starter for Detroit against Jake Peavy in Monday’s makeup game in Chicago.
