The Tigers 4-game winning streak ended yesterday in Cleveland when Jose Valverde blew a save in the ninth, giving up two runs to the Indians, who beat Detroit 7-to-6. The loss leaves the Tigers two games behind the Central Division leading White Sox, who finished off a three game sweep of the Twins Sunday with a 9-to-2 win at Minnesota. Miguel Cabrera hit a three-run homer in the seventh to give the Tigers a 6-5 lead before the Indian’s late comeback. It sets the stage for this afternoon’s game with Detroit at Chicago in a makeup for the contest with the White Sox that was rained out last Thursday. It will be the last meeting this season between the two teams. And the Cubs yesterday outscored the Pirates 13-to-9 at Wrigley Field.
