BATTLE CREEK (WTVB) - Medical Marijuana use may be okay with the law but it may not be okay with your boss and could get you fired. A federal appeals court has ruled in the case of Joseph Casias that the Walmart in Battle Creek had a right to fire him when he tested positive for marijuana, even though he was using grass to ease the symptoms of an inoperable brain tumor, and had a medical marijuana card.. The courts have consistently ruled that the Medical Marijuana initiative doesn’t say anything about workplace immunity.
Walmart says use of drugs would conflict with their safety policy.
