The NHL announced Wednesday the cancellation of the 2012 preseason through September 30th. The cancellations were necessary due to the absence of a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the league and the NHL Players' Association. The preseason was set to begin this Sunday with the regular season commencing on October 11th. The NHL is officially in its third work stoppage in less than 20 years.
