MARSHALL (WTVB) - It hasn’t been discussed in Branch County yet, but the Calhoun County Board has decided to dissolve their Road Commission and fold responsibility for out-county roads under the County Administration, turning roads into another department of the County Administration. It essentially eliminates the separately appointed Road Commission, and puts the problem of finding funding for road work in the laps of the County Commission.
The goal is to save administrative costs. Ingham County was the first to do it after passage of a new state law allowing the elimination of road commissions. Calhoun County was #2.
