KALAMAZOO (WTVB) - The headcount is in for this fall at Western Michigan University. WMU Students this fall are more diverse, more of them are opting for on-line courses, more spread out around the state attending regional centers and taking honors classes...but overall there are fewer of them. President John Dunn says enrollment is down about 2% overall compared to last year. It’s down from well over 25,000 last year to under 24,600 this fall.
Giving a big boost again this year, particularly to minority enrollment, is the large number of Promise Scholars enrolling from Kalamazoo schools, keeping the scholarship money in the local economy.
