LANSING (WTVB) - Extra drunk driving patrols on holiday weekends appear to be working in Michigan. Police statewide made 283 drunk driving arrests in an end of the summer crackdown. Of those, 52 drivers were arrested for having a blood alcohol content of 0.17 or higher. The enforcement campaign was in place from August 16th through September 3rd. Preliminary figures from the Michigan State Police show nine people were killed in car accidents over the Labor Day weekend.
