EAST LANSING, MI (WTVB) -The latest state of the state survey from Michigan State University finds that the Michigan economy is generally on the rise, but still not at pre-recession levels. MSU Economist Charles Ballard says it’s in 2nd or 3rd gear, which is certainly better than being in reverse, which is where it was at the end of the Bush Administration. When asked 6% say their current financial situation is excellent, 49% say its good and 30% say it’s fair. The rest say it’s not so good to poor.
In the survey, President Obama leads Mitt Romney by 9 points. Ballard says Governor Rick Snyder’s approval rating has risen from a low of 19% in the fall of last year to 37% this spring. That’s higher but still just half of where it stood when he started his term.
The poll of 808 likely voters done by live telephone survey has a plus or minus margin of error of 3.5%.
