Google is among the companies working on so-called "driverless" technology. California Governor Jerry Brown visited the company'sMountain Viewheadquarters Tuesday to sign legislation that allows driverless cars to be operated on public roads for testing purposes. Supporters think the technology could help reduce road fatalities as well as reduce traffic congestion and pollution.  The governor's office says Brown took a spin in a "self-driving car" before the bill-signing ceremony.
