DETROIT (WKZO) -- The former state Budget Director and a former State Senator took the stand in the trial of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick as testimony focused on grant money.
Mary Lannoye said she received a letter in June 2000 from Kilpatrick asking for grant money for two nonprofit groups. The first was founded by Bobby Ferguson and the second was affiliated with Kilpatrick's wife Carlita. Lannoye said when she asked for further details about how the money would be used Kilpatrick complained.
Carlita Kilpatrick received a 91-thousand dollar salary from the 137,500-dollar grant given to the organization known as U.N.I.T.E.
