Two Injury Accidents In Branch County Last night

BRANCH COUNTY (WTVB) - There were two serious injury accidents last night in Branch County.  The first collision was a two-car crash with six injuries at Centennial and Fenn Road south of Coldwater shortly after seven o’clock.

Two people were reported trapped in the wreckage and the Coldwater Fire Department rescue squad used the Jaws of Life to help free them. The Lakeland Fire Department helped set up a helicopter landing zone for one of the patients to be flown out for treatment.  State Police say a car driven by Mousa Norman of Coldwater failed to yield to the second car that was northbound on Centennial. It was driven by Paul Nelson of Sterling Heights.

Nelson was airlifted to Borgess in Kalamazoo by Aircare. The passengers in Nelson’s car were his wife, Deborah, and her parents from Coldwater, John and Barbara Gamby. The passenger injured in Norman’s car was identified as Mohammed Ahmed of Coldwater. All of the others injured in the accident were taken to the Community Health Center of Branch County for treatment. Troopers said alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the collision.

About two hours later, a car-tree accident with the driver trapped was reported in Bronson Township at Prairie River and Carpenter Road with the Bronson Fire Department called to the scene. There wasn’t a new release issued on the second accident so further details are unavailable at this time.
