The Pistons second half comeback fell short last night at Boston, where the Celtics clinched a playoff berth by pulling out a 98-93 win over Detroit. The Pistons trailed by 18 midway through the third quarter before they rallied and had a chance to take the lead with about a minute left in the game but a triple by Charlie Villanueva was off the mark.
Detroit shot 4-of-24 from three point range and turned the ball over 15 times to help the Celtics snap their 4-game losing streak against the Pistons. Greg Monroe posted 24 points and 17 rebounds for Detroit. The Pistons, now 25-and-51, play their next game Saturday night at Minnesota.
