COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - It remains a mystery in Branch County where more than 2 dozen residents on mostly the west side of the county said they heard explosions very early yesterday that were forceful enough to rattle windows and shake homes. Police agencies dispatched cars but they couldn’t find any smoke or damage. A spokesman for the Air National Guard in Battle Creek says they don’t fly anything out of Kellogg Field that can break the speed of sound. In fact none of the air bases in Michigan or Indiana have jet fighters that could be responsible for a sonic boom.
They are all flying A-10 Warthogs. Earthquakes, Pranksters, Aliens? No one seems to know. It’s not the first time it’s happened. There were similar reports in the Athens and Homer areas of Calhoun County last spring and summer.
