Another new coach in the Big Ten. The University of Minnesota has hired Richard Pitino, the son of Louisville head coach Rick Pitino. He will replace Tubby Smith, who was fired on March 25 after six seasons.
The 30-year old Pitino recently completed one season as the head coach at Florida International and led the Panthers to their first winning season in 13 years.
Prior to his stint with the Panthers, Pitino spent the 2011-12 season with his father at Louisville and was the team's associate head coach.
