COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - A Coldwater man is being held without bond and may be going back to prison following a run in with State Police. 34-year old Timothy Chatfield appeared in Branch County District Court yesterday after being booked into the County Jail early Thursday morning on a handful of charges. State Police say Chatfield attempted to outrun a trooper trying to make a traffic stop for speeding late Wednesday night and ended up crashing his car into the yard of a home in Algansee Township.
It happened along South Ray-Quincy Road near Brown Road with the accident occurring just south of Grove Road. No injuries were reported. After Chatfield was taken into custody, State Police say a search of his car turned up hazardous methamphetamine manufacturing components. The Southwest Enforcement team responded to the scene to assist in removing the materials. Besides drug charges, Chatfield was also driving on a suspended license and faces a parole violation as well. He’s due back in court for a hearing next Thursday.
