KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- The local employment outlook is improving if you look at the latest data.

While this week’s job report for Michigan released by Lansing was flat, you have to remember that it’s really for two months ago. The most recent data was from February.

Kalamazoo based Industrial Economist Dr. Brian Long says his monthly reading of the economic indicators from local industrial concerns for last month has more positive news.

Dr. Long says the upward trend in his economic indicators that resumed in February continued in March.

He says the trend for employment is also up according to the industrial manufacturers he surveys, primarily because of auto parts manufacturers.  Some of the healthiest numbers are in Ottawa County.

He says the West Michigan economy is by far the healthiest in the state.
