Compared to a year ago, the jobless rate in the Battle Creek area dropped from 8.1% to 7.3%, and the Kalamazoo area saw a drop from 8.3% to 6.7%, while Benton Harbor's rate fell from 10.3% to 9.7%. Compared to January, the largest drop in unemployment was in the Detroit-Warren-Livonia area at 1.1%. The rate went up 0.5% in Northeast Lower Michigan.
