COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Coldwater School Superintendent Dr. Tina Kerr says she was encouraged by another strong turnout of parents that attended last night’s Parent Advisory Committee meeting at Legg Middle School.
About 50 parents were there and Kerr said they had a lot of good questions and comments regarding the school district’s recently unveiled improvement program called the “Academics First Initiative”. According to Kerr, it was clear most of them were receptive to being part of the solution and helping address any problems. Several questions of concern remained in the audience about the district’s proposed model for extended learning with a balanced calendar, what some might call year round classes. Some fear it’s already nearly a done deal since so much lead time is required for preparing any school calendar. However, school officials are stressing it’s still only being studied and if it were implemented, it wouldn’t happen until the year after next at the earliest.
