Still no series sweep for the Tigers this season as the Mariners yesterday afternoon salvaged the finale of their 3 game set with Detroit with Seattle winning 2-to-0. Three Mariner pitchers combined on a five-hitter to beat Justin Verlander, who struck out 12 but gave up two runs in seven frames to fall to 2-and-2. Prince Fielder had two hits for Detroit, which slipped to 9-and-6 with their 4 game winning streak coming to an end.
The Tigers wrap up their 9-game road trip this weekend with a 3-game series against the Angels, who are struggling with a 4-and-10 record. Anibal Sanchez gets the start tonight for Detroit.
The White Sox lost 3-to-1 last night at Toronto while the Cubs beat Texas 6-to-2 in the afternoon at Wrigley Field.
