COLDWATER, mi (wtvb) - In Branch County high school sports, yesterday’s busy schedule was basically scratched by mid-day because of the threat of severe weather along with a tornado watch.
Make up dates, if possible, continue to be set with more changes likely because of today’s wet and cool conditions. It’s forecast to dry out this weekend and early next week before the next rain system is predicted to arrive Tuesday.
There was at least one event on Thursday that got started with boy’s golf and the Coldwater Cardinal Invitational at the Golf Club of Coldwater, where the horns were sounded about half way through the tournament and the course was cleared. They scored the match by using the number of strokes above par for the 11 holes that were played. 14 teams competed with Marshall finishing first at 26 over par. The Coldwater Red team placed fourth at 41 over with Bronson in eighth place at 69 over.
Coldwater’s White team finished 11th at 79 over. In the individual medalist standings, the Waterbury brothers, Nick and Nathan, led Coldwater, tying for fifth place at 8 strokes over par.
A couple of events are on today’s schedule including track with Coldwater at the Tecumseh Invitational and Bronson at the Comstock Invitational and in girl’s tennis, Coldwater is supposed to host Kalamazoo Loy Norrix.
Today on the Coaches Corner, it’s Coldwater softball coach Tina Scheidler.
