DETROIT, MI (WTVB) – The Tigers have won three straight games following a 5-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians last night at Comerica Park. Miguel Cabrera returned from the 10-day disabled list and hit a two-run homer in the third inning, the 450th of his career.
Victor Martinez, Andrew Romine and Alex Avila also drove in runs.
Justin Verlander got his second win of the season after giving up two runs in seven innings. Francisco Rodriguez notched his seventh save with a one-hit ninth.
In tonight’s third game of the four-game set, Matthew Boyd gets the start for Detroit while Cleveland sends Carlos Carrasco to the mound.
Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera returned to the lineup yesterday against Cleveland after a stint on the 10-day disabled list with a groin strain. In Cabrera’s second trip to the plate last night, he hit a two-run home run, the 450th of his career. To make room on the roster, Detroit optioned catcher/first baseman John Hicks to Triple-A Toledo.
