The Lions have had noticeably fewer players making negative off-season headlines this year but one popped up this past weekend. Detroit second year defensive end Ronnell Lewis is facing charges after a bar fight in Norman, Oklahoma.
The “Detroit Free Press” reports police in the college town twice had to taser Lewis, and he is facing three misdemeanor charges.
The Lions issued a statement saying they were aware of the situation, are gathering information, and have no further comment. Lewis is the second Detroit player arrested in the past 30 days following the arrest of safety Amari Spievey for felony assault and misdemeanor risk of injury to a child. The Lions are holding the fifth overall pick in the NFL Draft. With the first round tomorrow night in New York, Detroit continues to search for options in trading down in the draft order. Several top 20 teams, including the Eagles and Cowboys, are also said to be looking to trade down in the draft.
