FORT CUSTER, MI (WKZO) -- About a dozen protesters braved the cold and snow [yes snow] at the gates of the Air National Guard base in Battle Creek to protest the Deployment of a Drone Command Center at the base at noon yesterday.
The peace protesters came from as far as Indianapolis and Terre Haute and as nearby as Kalamazoo to protest the U.S. GOVERNMENT’S use of drones against civilian populations. But Capt. Craig Warren with the 110th Air National Guard wing says their mission will be strictly combat or search and rescue, without putting a pilot at risk.
The big difference is they will only be controlling and piloting the Drones from Battle Creek. The planes will actually be stationed it hot spots overseas.
