COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - A bad snow storm forced the cancellation two months ago of a Branch County Weather symposium but yesterday’s snow showers in April didn’t stop them the second time around and there was a good turnout last night for the event at the CHC Conference Center in Coldwater.
One of the featured speakers was former Lansing TV Meteorologist Rob Dale, now a regional planner for Michigan Emergency Management and Homeland Security Region One. Besides reviewing how best to recognize and prepare for threatening weather, Dale said the National Weather Service is constantly working on projects to improve how the weather is forecast and presented. According to Dale, that’s the good news. The bad news is, the Sequester, the automatic federal budget cuts that are beginning to impact the funding of many programs, including the Weather Service.
Last night’s symposium was jointly sponsored by Branch County Emergency Management and the Branch County Amateur Radio Club.
