NEW YORK, NY (WTVB) - Major League Baseball is offering minimum suspensions to eight players connected to Biogenesis, but not Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez. The "Daily News" reports the 50-game penalties are an effort to entice those eight to immediately accept the ruling without appeal. Detroit shortstop Jhonny Peralta is reportedly among those in line to miss most of the rest of the season.
As for “A-Rod, the league is attempting to negotiate a 200-game suspension for Rodriguez, who they believe also lied to baseball officials and interfered with its investigation into the suspected PED clinic. MLB will reportedly seek a lifetime ban against Rodriguez if he tries to fight the suspension. The Biogenesis penalties are expected to be handed out no later than Sunday. "A-Rod" has yet to play this season as he recovers from offseason hip surgery and more recently a strained quad.
