COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - With almost perfect weather throughout the week, the 84th edition of the Branch County Fair appears to have hit another attendance record. Fair Board President Charlie Bates says this year’s fair attendance topped 70,000 people, which best the previous record set in 2011. The top amphitheatre draw again this year was Thursday’s demolition derby, followed by Saturday’s mud bog and Wednesday’s tractor pulls.
While the number of animals brought to the fair was down slightly this year, Bates expects that to bounce back as feed prices drop.
Finals clean-up at the fair was yesterday. Some of the businesses and vendors will move on to the Calhoun County Fair, which is running this week in Marshall.
