DETROIT, MI (WTVB) - Michigan State coach Tim Izzo and Michigan coach John Beilein both seem to be enjoying the summer season based on their comments yesterday in Detroit at a training camp for top high school basketball players from around the state. Izzo appeared most happy with the fact that his entire team has been healthy, which generally hasn’t been the case for the last six years. The Spartans season ended with a loss to Duke in the Sweet 16 of last spring’s NCAA Tournament. Beilein is confident the Wolverines will be able to excel again in the upcoming campaign even though his team will be without guards Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway, Jr., who both went in the first round of the NBA draft. Beilein said it will be different for sure without the two players who helped lead Michigan to the national title game last season.
Six college coaches from around the state are taking part in this week’s Michigan Elite 25 Basketball program run at Detroit Mercy’s Calihan Hall by Tim McCormick, the former Michigan standout and NBA veteran.
