PONTIAC (WKZO) -- The City of Pontiac is out of state control with the resignation of Emergency Manager Louis Schimmel Monday. Governor Rick Snyder has appointed a Receivership Transition Advisory Board to meet monthly as the Oakland County seat regains local governance for the first time in more than four years. The changes initiated by Schimmel include merging the fire department with Waterford Township, contracting with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, and what he describes as reducing general fund expenses by 30-million dollars over the next six years.
