COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - The Coldwater Board of Education will begin the new school year with one less trustee. Board member Rick Gates announced at last night’s special board meeting that he was resigning with regret to allow him more time to spend on the demands of his growing business development company. Gates served four years as a trustee. The Board has 30 days to make an appointment to fill the vacancy with the Gates’ resignation taking effect immediately, leaving six trustees to carry on with the district’s business until a replacement is named.
The agenda for last night’s meeting included hiring several new teachers, approving a ballot resolution for a millage renewal that will appear on the November ballot and giving the o-k to a pair of employment contracts. The school board’s regular August meeting is scheduled for next Monday.
