BUSINESS BEAT: "Salon War" underway to boost Golf Ball Drop sales

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Over the last couple weeks, local salons have been having a Salon War to see who can sell the most Golf Ball Drop tickets to benefit the Branch County Coalition Against Domestic Violence.  You can “vote” for your salon to win by purchasing a $10 Sue Nagle Help from Above Golf Ball Drop ticket.  The drop to be held Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the Golf Club of Coldwater.

During the Sue Nagle Help from Above Golf Ball Drop to benefit the BCCADV, golf balls will be dropped from a helicopter and the ball that drops the closest to the pin or goes in the hole will win $1,000, 2nd closest will win $500 and furthest from the hole wins $250.  Golf balls are now being sold for $10 a piece at The Golf Club of Coldwater, Wilber’s Furniture, Iyopawa Island Golf Course, or by calling the Shelterhouse at 278-SAFE.  Participants need not be present to win.

The salon that sells the most tickets will win a pizza party and free promotion in local media, currently Sassy’s Salon and Kim’s Salon in Coldwater are tied for selling the most.  Participating salons include Miss Ginni’s, Fiesta Salon, Grand Reflections, Body Images, Allure Salon, Beach House, Kim’s Salon, Sassy’s Salon, Trendz Hair Design, Shear Competition, Bella Vie Day Spa, Silver Shears, Salon Designs, Kathy’s Beauty Mall.

All of the monies raised from the event will help provide services to those that use the Naomi Davis Home, Altrusa Teen S.H.A.R.E, and Laura’s Place.  The Shelterhouse has a wide range of services for the community to take advantage of including 24 hour crisis line for domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking survivors, Legal Advocacy Program for domestic violence survivors involved with the criminal or child protective services system, and the Circle of Care program for families with school age children who are homeless.

Donations from area individuals and organization make it possible for the Shelterhouse to offer safe refuge, encouragement, support services, food and clothing to victims fleeing domestic violence.

The Shelterhouse headquarters is located at 220 N. Michigan Ave. in the Naomi Davis Home.  For more information about the Sue Nagle Help from Above Golf Ball Drop or are a salon interested in participating in the Salon Wars, please call 517. 278.7432.
