COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Did you ever wonder what happened to that color coded system that Homeland security used to use to rank the danger of terrorism. It appears the State of Michigan is now using it to rank schools. If your school gets Green, it’s good, and if it’s ranked Red, not so good. The colors in between include lime, yellow and orange. It’s a tough grading scale. No high school in Branch County got above a yellow, which is the middle grade.
Coldwater High School showed up as a Code Red while the other schools graded in Bronson, Quincy, and Union City were all graded out in the yellow category. The data base might not include the school you’re searching for because there wasn’t enough information on hand for the state to calculate a ranking. Michigan’s annual report on school accountability was released yesterday.
