BUSINESS BEAT: Nancy Gregory named July Employee of the Month at CHC

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - For over 39 years, Nancy Gregory has been an employee at the Community Health Center of Branch County. Through Nancy’s dedication and outstanding service, CHC is proud to announce that Nancy has been selected Employee of the Month for July 2013, at CHC.

Nancy was hired November 4, 1979, as a staff nurse.  She is currently a registered nurse in the Emergency Department at CHC.  Nancy’s job duties include providing care and treatment for emergency patients, mentoring new employees, and working towards improving and maintaining quality care in the ER.  Nancy is on the safety and customer service committees.  According to her nominator, “Nancy exhibits the qualities and behaviors that exemplify what a CHC employee should be.  She consistently looks out for the patient’s best interests and is mindful of her co-workers as well.  She is rarely tardy and never absent from work.  Her energies are devoted and directed to her patients in order to ensure she provides excellence in patient care.  Additionally, she goes above and beyond so that CHC’s Emergency Department is viewed in the best possible way by patients, visitors, staff, and physicians.  Her compassion and knowledge are second-to-none and she takes great pride in being a certified registered nurse.  Nancy goes about her daily tasks in a most unassuming and quiet way.  She looks for neither credit nor “pats on the back” for a job well done.  She does these things because she really cares about others.  These qualities are a huge credit to CHC and to nursing as a revered profession.  For Nancy, customer service and branding aren’t just catch words or phrases without meaning.  They are a professional way of life and after 39 years of dedicated service she deserves to be named Employee of the Month.”

Nancy graduated from Mason County Central High School in Scottsville, MI.  She received her degree as a registered nurse from Mercy Central School of Nursing in Grand Rapids, MI.  Since 1993, Nancy has had a certificate in emergency nursing, trauma emergency nursing, trauma nurse core course, ACLS, and PALS.  Nancy is married to Bruce, who works at CHC as the emergency preparedness coordinator.  Together they have a daughter named Heather who is an occupational therapist at CHC Physical Therapy.  Nancy enjoys walking, traveling, playing walleyball, reading, and playing bridge.  She is a member at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church currently serving as Eucharistic Minister.  Nancy is a member of the Emergency Nurses Association and formerly a member of the American Red Cross, United Way, and the Leukemia Foundation.  She has volunteered at the First Presbyterian Free Health Clinic and was the camp nurse and served on the board of directors at Michigan Pulmonary Disease Camp.

The CHC Employee of the Month program is open to all full-time and part-time employees with six months of continuous employment. The Employee of the Month is selected by a committee that is comprised of former Employees of the Month. Each Employee of the Month receives a special sweatshirt, parking privileges for one month, an Employee of the Month certificate, his or her picture displayed near the cafeteria, Tibbits theater tickets, and lunch with his or her administrative representative, and the privilege of serving on the Employee of the Month Committee. Each Employee of the Month for the year is then eligible for Employee of the Year, which includes recognition at the annual Employee Recognition Banquet, parking privileges for one year, gift certificates, a jacket, and his or her picture displayed near the cafeteria.
