Coldwater girls golf team has second match today, Cardinal tennis and Quincy soccer teams begin their seasons

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - In Branch County high school sports, the opening week of competition for the fall season programs continues today. The varsity schedule includes girls golf with Coldwater’s second match of the season with the Western Invitational at Jackson’s Arbor Hills Golf Course. In boy’s tennis, Coldwater begins its season at the Vicksburg Invitational. And tonight, in boys soccer, Quincy kicks off its season with a 5:30 pm match at Stockbridge. There are more season opening events happening tomorrow. In volleyball, Coldwater, Quincy, and Union City are at the Battle Creek St. Philip Carrie Adams Invitational while at Bronson, it’s the Viking Invitational. Also on Saturday, there’s cross country with Bronson and Union City at the Colon Invitational. It didn’t take long to have the first postponement of the fall season. Bronson’s opening boy’s tennis match at home against Bridgman was rained out  yesterday and re-scheduled for Saturday, September 21st.

In middle school sports, the fall season practices begin on Monday. In Coldwater, that includes volleyball, cross country and rocket football. The volleyball tryouts at Legg Middle school are at 3 o’clock Monday afternoon starting with the eighth grade and then the seventh grade to follow. All student athletes are again reminded they must have their physicals completed before they can participate in any sports programs.
