DETROIT, MI (WTVB) - The Tigers rallied but then lost to the Twins 7-to-6 yesterday afternoon in the rubber game of the 3-game series at Comerica Park. Central Division leading Detroit heads into the weekend 5 games up on the second place Indians, who were idle on Thursday. Minnesota went ahead 6-to-2 on Tiger starter Justin Verlander, who finished with a no-decision after being bailed out by Austin Jackson’s 3-run homer that tied the game at 6 all in the sixth inning. Bruce Rondon took the loss while the Twin’s tie breaking RBI double in the eighth was surrendered by Drew Smyly. Tonight, the Tigers open a 3-game interleague series in New York against the Mets with Doug Fister starting for Detroit.

The Chicago White Sox last night got by the Royals 4-to-3 in 12-innings for a sweep of the 3-game series in Kansas City while the Cubs went 13-innings before losing 5-to-4 to the Nationals in the afternoon at Wrigley Field.
