EAST LANSING, MI (WTVB) - Michigan State’s starting quarterback Friday night in the Spartans’ season opener at home against Western Michigan will be fifth year senior Andrew Maxwell. MSU head coach Mark Dantonio made the announcement on Tuesday, saying Maxwell has great knowledge of their system after being the number one signal caller last year. Dantonio touted Maxwell’s leadership skills but also praised all four quarterback candidates for the job, which included sophomore Connor Cook and freshmen Tyler O’Connor and Damion Terry.
