The Coldwater School District has set September Tenth as the deadline for applications to be turned in to fill a vacancy on the Coldwater Board of Education. The opening was created when trustee Rick Gates last week announced his immediate resignation because of time restraints related to his property development business. The individual appointed will fill out the remainder of Gates’ term, which is up for election in November of 2014. Not all candidates for the board vacancy will be interviewed. The new trustee is expected to be selected during a special session of the Board of Education on September 16th.
School officials says any eligible candidate must be a registered voter in the Coldwater School District, at least 18 years of age, a U.S. citizen and resident of the state of Michigan for at least 30 days.
