DETROIT, MI (WTVB) - "Kickalicious" won't be kicking in Detroit anymore. The Lions Tuesday released Norwegian kicker Havard Rugland as one of their moves to get down to the 75-man roster limit. The YouTube sensation went 3-for-3 on field goal attempts during the first two preseason games, including a 50-yarder. Still, Rugland was never considered a serious threat to unseat veteran David Akers as the replacement for the retired Jason Hanson.
More cuts are coming with Detroit needing to trim another 22 players by Saturday at 6 p.m. In the meantime, the Lion’s fourth and final pre-season game is tomorrow night at Buffalo.
