LANSING, MI (WTVB) - Earlier this summer, State Representative Ken Kurtz of Coldwater voted no on Medicaid Expansion but it passed in the House. Then Tuesday night it barely passed in the state Senate. After that vote, House Speaker Jase Bolger says he doesn’t see any reason why House members would change their vote on expanding Medicaid next Tuesday. In fact The Marshal Republican says more representatives may vote for it, because the Senate version is an improvement on their package.
The House approved the measure in June, 76-31. The MIRS news agency says since that vote, a few state house Republicans have announced they will run for the Senate and that may change some positions, and Tea Party leaders say they will lobby to change other votes, but time is short and the margin is big.
