COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Friday’s 7th annual Branch County Economic Summit in Coldwater stressed the importance of regionalization for the county to achieve success in sustaining the recovery that’s started to take hold in the area. The latest gauge on the health of the economy from the factory floors in West Michigan shows after some choppy waters this summer and the government shutdown this fall, that its back to slow and steady growth.
Economist Dr. Brian Long says at least the economy is moving in the right direction. He says the national economy is also bouncing back and that will help. He expects this to be the pattern into next year, and possibly the foreseeable future. He says the auto industry is still driving the state’s economy, and we would do well to diversify before it peaks again.
