COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Shop with a Cop. That’s what a group of needy kids will be doing tomorrow as they pick out Christmas presents in a program that’s a joint effort of the Branch County Sheriff’s Department and the Branch County Coalition against Domestic Violence. Sheriff John Pollack says the children of domestic violence victims will be riding in patrol cars with lights flashing on a trip from the Shelterhouse following a five o’clock dinner with Walmart their destination to choose gifts for themselves, their families, and a selection for Toys-for Tots. A $2,500 grant from Walmart helped in part to make the local Shop with a Cop program possible.
Pollack says about 14 sheriff’s department officers will be involved along with some support staff as well from the Coldwater Police Department. Next year, they hope to expand the effort to all of the law enforcement agencies in Branch County.
