COLON, MI (WTVB) - Call it good luck or good karma, maybe good timing, at least for the police but not for two robbers are in jail today because they chose the wrong parking spot. The Chief of Police of the Village of Colon just happened to park next to the van that two robbers were using as their getaway vehicle last night just as he was going off duty. The pair had just held up the Village Pharmacy and headed to the van when Chief Mark Brinkert says he locked eyes with one of the robbers and knew something was wrong and decided to tail them. A few minutes later the report of the robbery was dispatched. Brinkert called for back-up and with help from State Police and officers from Mendon, Sturgis and the Sheriff’s Department, got them to pull over and surrender.
The two men from Indiana are being held for armed robbery, fleeing and eluding and felony gun counts.
