DETROIT, MI (WTVB) - The Detroit Tigers are adding another free-agent piece to their bullpen. According to multiple reports, the Tigers have agreed to a one year, 2.5 million-dollar contract with Joba Chamberlain. The 28-year old right-hander was 2-and-1 with a 4.93 ERA in 45 relief outings with the New York Yankees last season.
Chamberlain had spent his entire eight-year career with the Yankees. He is expected to help set up free-agent closer Joe Nathan, who signed with Detroit last week.
