COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - A strong armed robbery suspect has been charged in Branch County District Court as Coldwater City Police at last word were still searching for a second person wanted in connection with the crime that happened Tuesday night at a home on Elm Street. Investigators say they choked a man and then stole around $90 from his wallet before fleeing the residence and driving away in a pickup truck. They ordered him to remain in the corner of a bedroom and threatened physical harm if he didn’t stay put.
The suspects, who are said to be known by the victim, took off in a blue, Ford F150 and after surrounding agencies were notified, Union City Police a short time later located the pickup parked behind a bank. One suspect was located at his residence and taken into custody on an unrelated failure to appear warrant.
Charged with robbery was 23-year old John Rolland, Jr. of Union City and his bond was set at $100,000 with his next court appearance set for December 26th.
