GALESBURG (WTVB) - That unprecedented breach in security at Target that permitted hackers to acquire data on about 40 million credit and debit card accounts may have a bigger effect for some in Southwest Michigan if it damages sales. Target is a major employer in the region because of the distribution center in Galesburg. Target says they have fixed the problem, and it’s safe to shop in their stores now although generally, you get a mixed reaction from shoppers about going back. Ken Colburn, a radio host who talks about digital issues says there is always a risk when you use credit or debit cards. He says you may want to just swap out the card and get a new one and carefully watch your accounts for unauthorized spending.
