BRONSON, MI (WTVB) - A community in Branch County has lost its Mayor and they’re also remembering Tom Rissman for his many dedicated years as a Bronson volunteer firefighter. 66-year old Thomas Rissman passed away on Thursday at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
Rissman, a 1965 graduate of Bronson high school, also earned an accounting degree from Ferris State College in 1969. For many years, Tom owned and operated Bronson Business Service Accounting and Insurance until him retirement in 2010. Mayor Rissman was on the City Council since 1987 and served as Mayor since 2003. He was a board member of the Bronson Rural Fire Association and was very proud to be trained and certified as an EMT and of the fact he had delivered his youngest son. His active community service including sitting on the Bronson School Board, Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis, the Community Foundation and on the Board of the First Congregational Church.
The funeral for Thomas Rissman will be held on Friday, December 27th at 11:00 AM at St. Mary of Assumption Church in Bronson. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Dutcher-Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson. Memorial donations may be directed to the Bronson Fire Department or the Bronson Rotary Club for a memorial of Tom in Memorial Park.
