Calvin Johnson might not suit up for the Lions Sunday, Aaron Rodgers to start for Green Bay

DETROIT, MI (WTVB) - Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson was held out of practice on Thursday, due to a nagging knee and ankle issues. Detroit head coach Jim Schwartz said that a decision on whether or not the All-Pro receiver will suit up in Sunday's season finale against the Vikings at Minnesota may not come until shortly before game time. Johnson had been listed as questionable for last week's overtime loss to the Giants. He played limited minutes in the defeat that eliminated the 7-8 Lions from playoff contention.

And looking to the future, the Lions Thursday signed to their practice squad Carlin Isles, who is touted as the fastest rugby player in the world. The 24-year old Isles, a member of the U.S. National rugby team, is a longshot NFL prospect, possibly as a return specialist. At yesterday’s workout in Allen Park, the speedy Isles posted a 4.22 40-yard dash.

With the NFC North crown on the line Sunday in Chicago, the Green Bay Packers will have starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers back under center when they take on the Bears. Rodgers has not played since sustaining a fractured left collarbone on the opening drive of Green Bay's eventual 27-20 loss to Chicago on November Fourth. The Packers proceeded to go 0-3-1 over the next four weeks with Rogers on the shelf, but rebounded with back-to-back wins before dropping a decision at Pittsburgh in Week 16. The former MVP had practiced on a limited basis in recent weeks, but took first team reps on Thursday in preparation for Sunday's matchup.
